Add Comment ![]() guns found in Joplin I LOOKED AT a lot of pictures of Blanche and the Barrow gang for inspiration in writing The Deadliest Instruments; it helped me envision the world of the play. Below are some of my favorite photos, culled from the internet by searching words such as "1930's guns", "Bonnie and Clyde" and "death car". I like looking at the pictures too because I'm seeing these "characters" more as people who were real once, as humans who were trying to survive just like we are. How did they get trapped? During the time Blanche Barrow was with the gang, they began driving in literal circles across the southern U.S. to Denver CO. and back. Were they trapped by Clyde's desire for Revenge on Eastham prison? Were their lives this worthless? Did they believe their own press? Carolynne is working on the poster design, Richard has some fantastic lighting ideas, (including footlights! yes!) and Clary is meeting with Sara soon to firm up her costuming ideas. Everything is coming together, paving the way for a really fantastic show. I can't wait. !!! I met Sara this year in a virtual way - we were introduced via email when I was searching for a director. She is brilliant and I am thrilled to be working with her. Watch out world! We have started our Kickstarter campaign! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1817270993/the-deadliest-instruments Currently we have 19 days to go to reach our funding goal of 2500.00. The date I picked for the ending of our campaign is my dead brother's birthday, he would have been 40 years old! I am looking forward to honoring his birthday with a successful raising of the funds! Some rehearsal photos that date from January 2012, and behind the scenes at our photo shoot in monroe. I could say a lot about this young lady that I've known for almost 18 years. She has developed a real flair for style and costuming with the skills to match. I'm very excited to see what she will bring to the world of The Deadliest instruments He Is our Lighting Designer, and a really brilliant one. Richard was our director/set designer on Stings Like Acid in 2010 and our director for Riding the Bull last year. He is funny and smart with great ideas and the ability to realize them. |
